Frequently Asked Questions

What areas do you serve?
We primarily serve the greater Kansas City area. Additional travel fees may apply for extended service areas throughout the metropolitan area—please contact us to discuss your specific needs. For clients in surrounding regions of Kansas and Missouri, we offer virtual consultations. Visit our CareWise Consultations section for more details.

What forms of payment do you accept?
Care Management services are private pay. Unfortunately, Medicare does not consider this level of advocacy to be eligible for reimbursement. We accept payment by check, bank transfer, or credit card (please note a 3% service fee applies to credit card transactions).

What if my budget is limited, or I am planning to spend down for Medicaid but still need services?
We strive to work within your budget and defined goals while also connecting you with resources that may best fit your needs. If you are considering Medicaid, we recommend consulting a legal or financial professional for guidance on spend-down rules. After doing so, some clients choose to work with AgeWise during the spend-down process.

How much time do Care Managers usually spend with clients?
The time we spend with each client varies based on their needs and the complexity of their situation. On average, we make two to four visits per month, with each visit typically lasting less than two hours. Some clients require periodic consultations, while others benefit from more frequent contact to maintain continuity of care and support their independence.

Do you have any minimum visit requirements?
We do not have an overall minimum for Care Management services. However, in-person visits are billed for a one-hour minimum.

Will you speak with another family member about your services?
Yes. If multiple family members or decision-makers are involved, we can schedule a joint phone call to discuss our services. Alternatively, we can provide a written summary of our services that you can share with your family. With the appropriate written or verbal consent, we can also advocate for our clients and communicate with the family, friends and professionals important to them.

Will you serve as an attorney-in-fact under the power of attorney?
AgeWise selectively serves as attorney-in-fact or successor attorney-in-fact for healthcare for individuals who lack family or close friends able or willing to serve in that capacity.
